Built by people who've
been where you are.

Most agencies take months just to screen you. We get you through the door faster and into the hands of the best agencies in the country.

Rooted in lived experience

Borne wasn't built from a textbook. It was built from lived experience with surrogacy. That's why every part of this process is designed around what actually matters to surrogates.

Quick, respectful screening

Our questionnaire takes about 10 minutes and covers the basics — age, health history, lifestyle. No invasive questions upfront. If you're a fit, we'll schedule a conversation to learn more.

Faster than going direct

Traditional agencies have long waitlists and heavy overhead. We move quickly — screening you in days, not months — and place qualified surrogates with top agencies we have strong relationships with. You skip the line.

Clear, honest communication

No jargon. No surprises. You'll know exactly what's happening, what comes next, and what your options are — always. If we don't know, we'll say so.

Simple steps to
see if you're a fit.

No medical exams. No long commitments. Just an honest conversation that starts with a short questionnaire.

We stay in touch

I built Borne because I knew this experience could be better — warmer, clearer, more human.

— Founder, Borne

Borne from our journey — built to support yours.

Borne didn't start in a boardroom. It started in the lived experience of surrogacy — the real kind, with all its beauty and all its complexity.

We saw firsthand how the matching process could feel impersonal, opaque, and overwhelming for surrogates. We believed it didn't have to be that way.

So we built something different: a matching service rooted in firsthand knowledge of the journey, where technology handles the screening so humans can focus on the relationship, and where surrogates are treated as partners — not just candidates in a database.

That's what Borne means. Something carried with care. Something new, brought into being. A beginning that honors everything it took to get here.

Curious if you're a fit?

Take our 10-minute questionnaire. No commitment, no medical exams — just a few honest questions to see if surrogacy might be right for you.

See if you qualify

No commitment. 10 minutes. We respond to every submission.

For surrogates, by people
who've been there.

Everything you need to know about becoming a surrogate through a matching service — from compensation and timelines to what makes Borne different.

Why Surrogates Choose a Matching Service

Applying directly to agencies means long wait times, unclear requirements, and filling out multiple applications. A matching service like Borne pre-screens you once, then connects you with the right program based on your profile and preferences.

Instead of applying to agencies one by one, you complete one questionnaire with Borne. We review your answers, give you personalized feedback, and — if you're a fit — introduce you to a partner agency that's already looking for someone like you. Faster matching, less paperwork, clearer path forward.

What Makes a Good Surrogacy Agency

Transparent compensation. A good agency is upfront about exactly what you'll earn, when you'll be paid, and what expenses are covered.

Surrogate-first culture. The best agencies treat you as a partner — not just a candidate. Look for dedicated support coordinators and mental health resources.

Legal protections. Your agency should provide independent legal counsel for you, paid for by the intended parents.

Medical standards. Reputable agencies work with ASRM-compliant clinics and never pressure you to skip screening steps.

Borne only partners with agencies that meet all of these criteria.

Surrogate Compensation Breakdown (2026)

Surrogate pay has increased significantly. In 2026, total compensation typically ranges from $60,000 to $100,000+ depending on your location, experience, and agency.

First-Time Surrogates
$60,000–$75,000

Base compensation for your first journey. Varies by state and agency.

Experienced Surrogates
$75,000–$100,000+

Higher base pay for surrogates who've completed a prior journey.

$200–$350/mo

Extra for carrying twins, C-section delivery, maternity clothing, and more.

What Happens After You're Matched

Once Borne connects you with a partner agency, the agency takes over and guides you through the rest of the journey. Here's what that typically looks like:

01
Medical screening

You'll visit a fertility clinic for a full physical and uterine evaluation. The agency coordinates everything — appointments, travel if needed, and follow-up. All medical costs are covered by the intended parents.

02
Psychological evaluation

A licensed psychologist meets with you (and your partner, if applicable) to make sure you're emotionally prepared and have a strong support system. This isn't a test — it's a conversation to make sure you feel ready.

03
Legal contracts

A surrogacy attorney drafts a legal agreement that protects you, the intended parents, and the baby. You get your own independent lawyer — paid for by the intended parents — so someone is advocating specifically for your interests.

04
Embryo transfer and pregnancy

After a short medication protocol, you'll undergo the embryo transfer at a fertility clinic. Then it's a normal pregnancy — regular OB visits, ongoing support from the agency, and communication with the intended parents on terms you've both agreed to.

The full journey from agency match to delivery typically takes 12 to 16 months. Your agency and a dedicated case manager support you every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Borne cost anything?

What are the basic requirements?

Ages 21–42, at least one prior birth, BMI under 33, US citizen or permanent resident, and substance-free.

How long does the process take?

The full journey from screening to delivery takes 15–20 months. Borne's matching phase takes one to two weeks.
